Eating with Hope

(Gauteng Metropolitan Council: 1997)

A 24-page comic dealing with the management of HIV infection through nutrition. The central idea was a person with HIV (Hope) that was not a victim but was a role model for healthy living. Hope becomes an inspiration to her HIV-negative friend and a neighbour who is struggling with the symptoms of HIV infection. It was developed together with Storyteller Group and was accompanied with a facilitator’s resource, based on an Oprah-like talk show, called, It’s Your Life. More than 3 million copies were printed. The artwork for Eating with Hope was created by Alistair Findlay and Justin Wells.
